Erchonia Low-Level Laser
FDA-cleared photobiomodulation therapy. A gentle, non-thermal laser that works at the cellular level — best for acute inflammation, superficial and delicate tissues, and specific conditions like plantar fasciitis and chronic neck/shoulder pain.
What is Erchonia Low-Level Laser Therapy?
Erchonia is a family of FDA-cleared low-level laser devices that use visible red light — typically around 635 nanometers — at very low power (milliwatts, not watts). Sometimes called cold laser or photobiomodulation (PBM), the therapy doesn't create heat and produces no sensation on the skin.
Here's what's happening beneath the surface: photons of red light are absorbed by cytochrome c oxidase, an enzyme inside your mitochondria. That shifts the electron transport chain, boosting ATP production and triggering a cascade of anti-inflammatory and tissue-repair signals. In plain English — we're giving your cells a nudge to heal more efficiently.
Erchonia is notable in the cold-laser category for holding more FDA 510(k) clearances than any other manufacturer, including several first-ever clearances (chronic neck/shoulder pain, post-mastectomy lymphedema, and more).
A Note on Honesty
The evidence for cold laser varies by condition. It's strongest for plantar fasciitis, chronic neck pain, and acute soft-tissue injuries. It's weaker or contested for some other uses. We recommend it when it has a genuine shot at helping your specific condition — and recommend something else when it doesn't.
Erchonia vs Class IV Laser
Both are lasers. That's about where the similarity ends. We offer both because they're useful for different situations:
| Erchonia (Cold) | Class IV (Hot) | |
|---|---|---|
| Power | 5–25 mW per diode (milliwatts) | 7–60+ watts |
| Wavelength | 635 nm visible red (+ 405 nm violet on some units) | 800–1064 nm near-infrared |
| Thermal effect | None — tissue stays at baseline | Mild therapeutic warmth |
| How it works | Photochemical (mitochondria, ATP) | Photochemical + photothermal |
| Depth of effect | Shallow–moderate (superficial tissue) | Deeper tissue |
| What you feel | Nothing | Soothing warmth |
| Best for | Acute inflammation, delicate tissues, post-surgical, specific FDA-cleared conditions | Deep chronic pain, large muscle groups, severe joint degeneration |

Conditions Erchonia Can Help
Specific Erchonia clearances apply to specific device models and indications. Dr. Consales will confirm which clearance applies to your condition and device at your visit.
What a Session Looks Like
Evaluation
Dr. Consales determines whether Erchonia is the right tool for your condition — and whether the clearance and evidence justify using it for you. If not, he’ll tell you.
Comfortable Positioning
You stay fully clothed. The laser is either applied directly to the treatment area or scanned non-contact over it. Protective eyewear is provided.
Painless Delivery
5–20 minutes per area, depending on protocol. No heat, no tingling, no sensation at all. You can relax, read, or close your eyes.
Build-Up Over Visits
Typical protocols are 2–3 sessions per week for 3–6 weeks. Because Erchonia effects are cumulative, consistency matters more than intensity.
Erchonia Pricing
Single Session
Per treatment session. 5–20 minutes depending on area and condition.
Treatment Package
Discounted multi-session packages
Most conditions respond in 8–12 visits. Dr. Consales will quote your plan at the evaluation.
Insurance & FSA/HSA: Cold laser is rarely covered by insurance. FSA/HSA funds are accepted, and we provide itemized receipts for your records.
